Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - FANTASTIC MOVIE AND MUSIC!!
I have loved this movie for years and am watching it again now--the cast is great, the writing sharp and witty--it is honest and silly, and unpretentous. it is nice to seem the cream of the crop acting wise having so much fun. Loved Bill Withers and so many other musicians for the film (songs I had not heard in a while). GREAT ALL-AROUND EXPERIENCE!!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - CHARMING COMEDY-MELODRAMA
I was pleasantly surprised by this movie and it is witty, insightful, and touching. The cover art for the DVD shows Josh Hartnett but the REAL stars are Alan Rickman, Rachel Griffiths, Bill Nighy, and Natasha Richardson.

When Griffiths appears at the end completely in the nude with fantastic tattooing and hairstyle it is enough to turn a gay man straight - what a body. She continues the very good work she did in "Muriel's Wedding."

Another under-rated actor in the movie is Warren Clarke who demonstrated his superb acting abilities in the Dalziel and Pascoe series on British television. He is touching and very funny as the mayor of the small town and the emcee for the "pageant".

Rickman as usual does extraordinary things with a smallish part and Bill Nighy, another under-rated actor, is great as his rival. The insights into high-fashion and competitive hairdressing is intriguing and some of the hairdoes are worthy of the court of Queen Marie Antoinette.

ALtogether a great movie and one that I will return to when I want to see accomplished British actors perform their art with aplomb.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Blow Dry
I was pleasantly surprised with this video. It was a welcome change to see Alan Rickman play the good guy in the end of this one. Josh Hartnett was great as the son trying to deal with finding a neutral position between too estranged parents. It had a great cast a decent story and was just fun to watch.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - British are so damn gifted at movies like this
The British are so damn gifted at movies like this, that have a great script, awesome actors, great setting and great cinematography that actually makes you feel as if you are a part of the film. The story line is funny, sad and who ever knew hair could be formed into such wild and wonderfully eclectic designs. But is the end that is the keeper and if nudity can be funny as well as classy this is it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - one of the best british comedies
I absolutely loved this movie. What hmade the movie was Alan Rickman and BillNighy. they are an absolute scream. it has comedy, drama, and fun. i would higfhly recommend this movie to anyone who likes to laugh and be entertained!!!!!!!

CLLCT - The Collective Family An online community of indipendent musicians who have made their music free to download. No, it's not myspace.
(disclaimer: I have a profile there too, but nothing that I haven’t also posted on mefi.music. Apart from that I have nothing else to do with running or maintaining the site.)

Originally the 001collective, cllct is a community (or a collective if you will) of musicians dedicated to giving away their music for free on the internet. I randomly found the original 001 site while looking for online communities to post my own home recordings to. Not long after I signed up, the site changed to its current format under the new name cllct.

There is some phenomenal music to be found there, from the cuteness overload of Shelby Sifers, to the mature stylings of Generous Alzir, and even the off-kilter experiments of the Secret Owl Society (who is also the man behind the entire site).

Some other favourites of mine include:
21 love songs – a tribute to Magnetic Fields
Fire in the Mountains – James Eric
Pinecones – The Uggamuggas
Macondo – Fox Paws

I hope you enjoy the music!
