Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Episode 289 is a Kinescope
Episode 289 on this DVD is the kiescope vershion insted of English Kinescope audio merged with the video from a located Spanish dubbed videdo vershion which was used on the MPI VHS volume 12. I am not sure why MPI did this. This Epsode is not discribed as a kiascope in the DVD booklet.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - EERILY ADDICTIVE. . .
I enjoyed Collection 2 much more than Collection 1. The pace picks up a bit and the story becomes much more interesting. Jonathan Frid is superb as Barnabas Collins. Mr. Frid plays the guilt-ridden vampire with grace, romanticism and passion. John Karlen does a splendid job playing Willie Lumis as he always seems to be on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Grayson Hall is great in portraying the smart and courageous Dr. Hoffman. I love the rooms in the old house as they are beautifully done. The candles and the music go hand in hand and effectively transport the viewer to an earlier and gentler time adding an eerie but desirable touch. The show is just as addictive now as it was when it first came out in the 60's. It leaves the viewer wanting more. Looking forward to Collection 3.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great Series !!
I am hooked on this show. It's funny seeing the shadows from the boom mic on screen or when one of the actors stumbles on a line or hearing something fall in the background while the actors are talking. It was live tv and you have those imperfections, but even with all that, the show is so enjoyable to watch. The one exception is that Maggie Evans screams way too much which is a little annoying. It seems that every scene she's in she's screaming.I won't give the details but if you see the dvd you'll know what I'm talking about.Collection 2 is really fun though.I loved what happened to Jason McGuire! It shows what greed can do.Barnabas is so cool. He's so polite to everybody and they all think he's a great guy,but he's always plotting his next evil move.Elizabeth Collins Stoddard almost dies but is saved.Darn it!! Oh well. Victoria Winters and Carolyn Stoddard are always nice to look at.I can't wait for collection 3!

Received on time and the Cds were in great condition.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Addictive is an understatement...
Its said that Dark Shadows didn't really get rolling and gain its claim to immortality until Jonathan Frid entered in the second season... and that's where collection 1 starts. Amazingly, as you sit through Collection 1 and 2 you can REALLY feel momentum building. A downside of many DVD collections (and TV series) is that with time you get used to them and start to lose interest. True cult TV holds up over time, and even moreso, great TV sticks with you for years after the first time you saw it. Dark Shadows is often described as "short lived" for a soap opera (4 years) but when you consider the fact that the shows were on almost daily and unlike sitcoms and other shows the plots had to continue from episode to episode it is amazing. - - I literally sat through some of the disks in a day and when they ended my first thought wasn't what to do next - - turn off the TV and get a night of sleep, or continue to watch, watch, watch and watch and get MORE and MORE. - - 4 or 8 hours of any TV show will usually exhaust you. Not DARK SHADOWS... the characters are amazing, and at times the acting and dialogue is really edgey...again amazing, because its a soap opera, and also because its a GOTHIC HORROR soap. How can you combine the reality and human element of a soap with - - vampires and witches and do so in a way that both are packed with emotion and drama??? Apparently the entire cast, production team and writers of DARK SHADOWS knew how... and that's why the DVDs are worth having. Forget waiting for the reruns to come back on CABLE TV... odds are it'll be cancelled after about a year or they'll jump seasons for some stupid reason. Own it and resign yourself to fate. Reality is you will probably be losing a lot of sleep and late for a lot of appointments... This is CULT TV at its best ! ! !

Collection 2 - - in case you're wondering features the introduction of Sarah Collins and Dr. Hoffman. As the Stoddard-Collins/Jason McGuire thing finally comes to a climax, Barnabus really comes to the forefront. In case you're watching the show backwards (after having first seen later episodes on TV) an amazing thing to note is the richness of the writing how things are set up and tie together in such an epoch manner !)

You guys! Psyched about that whole Watchmen movie thing (previously, we've touched on Watchmen briefly, like, once or twice?), kinda wanna read the book, but you just can't see fitting a 400-page comic into your busy, busy schedule? Fortunately for you, there's The Condensed Version. (Via the often NSFW Journalista.)

Eureka! We'll call it...

NASA got a great big balloon for the 75th anniversary of its iconic Moffett airfield in the heart of Silicon Valley.…

All About N-Gage have the dirt on a game that looks like it has a lot of potential: Asphalt: Urban GT.  I can't say that I've played much more than some FIFA and other random stuff on the N-Gage, but a good racer can add a lot of value to a gaming platform.  Of course I'm still waiting to see if Call of Duty rocks as much as it should.

I've heard it said by Dave Winer and many many others: if only Dean had reinvested half the money raised into the Internet, then ...

OK, so you're the Dean Campaign Chief Information Officer in August 2003. The money starts to roll in. $20 million over six months, $2-4 million per month.

What would you spend the money on?

  1. What does your monthly budget look like?
  2. What is your application and infrastructure portfolio?
  3. How much will you allocate to maintenance?
  4. You're building from scratch, so what problems do you hope to avoid through wise architecture?
  5. What are your big milestones?
  6. Who are your key vendors?

How do you spend in consonance with the campaign strategy?

  1. How will you use the Internet to bring offline voters into the campaign at the same numbers as radio or television broadcasts?
  2. What is your online strategy for responding to attack ads and opposition pundits in radio, television and print?
  3. Online community takes time to build and is very hard to organize geographically. What will you do to match the state-by-state primary schedule?
  4. What can you do with online services to serve the campaign in caucus states?
  5. You are preparing for Bush to launch in Spring 2004. What are your countermeasures to reach out to moderate Republicans online while the GOP uses its advanced voter email systems to barrage 200 million validated email addresses?
  6. How will you lower the cost-per-vote vs. the GOP?
