Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Definitely, a winner
This is a sweet romantic comedy. It's easy to pick out who will win the leading man's heart in the end, but it's still a great movie that's fun to watch. I liked how the ending came together. Glad I bought it.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Which Woman Is Mom? - a romantic suspense story
My wife and I enjoyed this movie, I have a daughter, now grown, and I loved other women before marrying her mother. This movie tells a story about those 3 women, and the ups and downs of their relationship with him. The girl can't figure out which woman in the story is her mother. But she also wants her father to be happy. This has a nice ending for a romantic like my wife and I, we've were afraid at times the ending would be different. This DVD movie was money well spent, entertaining, happy and sad, but we were not certain who should be cheered for. Let it happen like life does us a time. Breakups can be hard, especially when my child was younger, just 5, she wanted me to be happy too. We both liked this movie. The daughter did well in her part, believeable.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Great way to spend a Friday evening with your S.O.
This very nicely done film won't win any awards for great acting or anything, but it's terrific movie to watch with your Significant Other. Will Hayes (Ryan Reynolds, whom I don't remember having seen in anything before) is about to be divorced and his 11-year-old daughter, Maya (Abigail Breslin, a very good young actress), insists on knowing just how her parents got together anyway. Will is hesitant, but at his daughter's insistence he agrees to tell her "the story" -- but he's changing the names, and she'll just have to figure out for herself which of the three women in his earlier life turns out to be her Mom. The story begins at the University of Wisconsin in the summer of 1992, where Will has a steady girlfriend named Emily (Elizabeth Banks). Then it jumps with him to the presidential campaign in New York City, in which Will is a Clinton volunteer, and where he meets April, the "coffee girl" (Isla Fisher, also new to me). Girl no. 3 is Summer (Rachel Weisz), a slightly strange, possibly bisexual friend of Emily's. There's a lot of funny, ironic dialogue, a number of "smile" moments, and a very romantic final scene, in which (with Maya's determined nudging) Will finds his way to the girl he should have been with all along. A good way to spend a Friday evening.

NOTE: I've seen reviews by apparently ignorant and/or right-wing parents that trashed this film solely because of the "introduction of sex education" scene with which it opens -- and which I thought was both very funny and very true. What is *wrong* with some people?

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - A Good Romantic Comedy
When his daughter Maya (Abigail Breslin) begins to ask questions about his past, Will Hayes (Ryan Reynolds) tells her the story of how he came to meet her mother. The twist is that he's going to tell her all about his love life as a young man, and that Maya has to guess which of his girlfriends became her mothers. The movie alternates from the "flashback" scenes, taking place over the rise and fall of the Clinton Administration, to showing Maya's reactions to her father's story in the present.

The flashback scenes are what really make this movie, though admittedly those didn't really even interest me until about twenty minutes to a half hour into the movie. The film started off really bland, but once a young Will Hayes takes a job working on the Clinton campaign, things start to fall into place. The dialogue is very well written, the characters are somewhat stock but still interesting, and the plot-twists are a bit more surprising than what you'd expect from the genre.

Overall, it's a good film that will probably entertain but will definitely draw a tear. It's probably not for everyone, but for those who can appreciate a high-sentimental romantic comedy, this is surely worth seeing.

7/10

It's been a while since I found a movie that was nice and easy to follow. This was comical and romantic, and I loved it. I had to give it 5 stars!
