*sigh*
I absolutely adore Hugh Laurie; we go waaaay back.
But...what can I say, after the uber lame Season 3, and a few episodes of Season 4, things took a major shift. What was once a great - and funny - show about the darkness of human condition, simply became....well, pure "General Hospital".
So I broke up with House.
Enough said.

Wonderful Season with a mindblowing finale wrapped up in a small little package
I personally believe this was the best season of house. Like the below author it was time for a change. The writers were very clever in creating the roles for the needed characters we were going to love and hate this year. Another great thing that happened this year is we saw more of Wilson and Cuddy. I felt that their characters werent being used up as much as house's team was. Which made me wanting to see them more and more. Seasons start out with all sorts of questions that arent answered right away. When the shows get good it is towards the middle and end of the seasons. This show never disappoints, every episode is a masterpiece that should be treated as such.

Baffled
I am baffled why some people think that season 4 was a disappointment because the original cast was sidelined. Don't get me wrong- I loved Cameron, Chase, and Foreman during the first three seasons, and I love them still. But Cameron was starting to get on my nerves (a bit to whiny for my taste) and the show needed something new and exciting. What is braver than scraping half of the original cast? Kudos to the writers for not following a stupid formula that has made so many good shows turn boring. How many seasons can the same cast rehash the same plots? It's only natural that House would eventually run off his team...how is that surprising? Plus, I like Taub, Kutner, and Thirteen. Olivia Wilde is beautiful and a wonderful actress- she's doing a great job in the role. Kal Penn and the guy who plays Taub (forgot his name) are also fun and wonderful. What's not to like? Season 4 was fantastic and I look forward to season 5.

Irritated and disappointed
Add my thumbs down to the others. Hugh Laurie was absolutely brilliant in the first three seasons. My hubby is a doctor about the same age and accomplishments and he would LOVE to say some of the stuff "House" got away with!! Every second of the "clinic" story line (where House is forced to serve as per contract)is just hilarious. Just say what you think... imagine that! I enjoyed the story arc of each character and the astounding way the cast handled all the jargon. We NEVER watch medical series because so much of them are a load of crap. But we always loved Hugh Laurie and when I saw the first season at a megamart, I decided to give it a try.
Then season four... yuck! I couldn't believe that they chose to add/replace the original cast and worse still, they couldn't make up their minds who they wanted to settle on. Dilute is spot on! Some of the newbies are so similar to the vets that I can't tell the difference!
Also, the drug addiction/relentless jerk cop story line was just idiotic. Very few people realize that narcotics addiction is nothing compared to alcohol addiction. Continuing the scare tactics of pain pill habits bore and annoy me. Narcotic habituation interrupted brings on flu-like symptoms that last a few days. Withdrawal from alcohol is extremely dangerous... people die from it. Showing House going about his daily routine with the aid of pain medication was quite refreshing. Then, cue the evil empire music... Bahh! Humbug!!

A MUST SEE
I have all of the seasons, and all of them are great by the way, but this one is the BEST. I love it because I can't always stay up late enough to watch it and I end up missing episodes. You can watch these right in a row, over and over!!!! I just love the the guy who plays house so much. I wish there were more episodes. One thing I always tell people who are new to the show is that it takes about two or three episodes to get hooked. Just take my word for it. You'll see.
