Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Amazing movie
Get this dvd because it is a beautifully rendered, dazzling piece of animation. The story is not particularly clever or interesting but so what? Jack Black is great and the movie is pure eye candy.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Could have been a lot better
The three-year old loves this movie and, quite honestly, that is the only reason to own it. Of course, if you're a parent who would appreciate not exposing your little one to excessive violence, then you still might want to give this one a pass.

I really expected more from it considering it boasted the talents of Hoffman, Jolie, and McShane. Mostly the adults in the room were totally bored and ready for it to be over. Kadden, the three-year old, had a ball with it.

If you must see it, borrow or rent.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Two boys' review: Kung Fu inspires kids to follow their dreams
MY sons, ages 6 and 4, haven't stopped practicing their Kung Fu moves in our living room, cutting the air with their hands and feet. More importantly, the story's message -- believing in yourself and reaching for your dreams -- is not lost on them.

Po, the titular panda, is often silly but he's never mean-spirited in his pursuit of his destiny. My sons cheered him on as he and the Furious Five took on kung fu warrior Tai Lung.

Most of the laughs occur during Po's training, as he befuddles master Shifu (Dustin Hoffman gets in some great lines here) and offends the Furious Five -- Tigress, Monkey, Mantis, Crane and Viper, only to later gain their respect.

This is a fun movie for young kids. Parents can relax knowing it is age-appropriate entertainment that will be enjoyed for repeat viewings.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Fun, Fun, Fun
I had an opportunity to watch Kung Fu Panda with the family last night. The movie was very entertaining with several laugh out loud moments. Po Panda, as voiced by Jack Black, was hilarious with many witty one-liners. Other voice work actors included Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Seth Rogan, and Dustin Hoffman, excellent as the voice for Kung Fu master Shifu.

The film is rated PG as there are numerous scenes involving martial arts combat. I did not find it too violent for young children over the age of 9 years old. I am sure it would not be bad for younger as well, but that is each parent's call.

The message in the movie was very positive and delivered in a way that was a lot of fun. This is a movie that the entire family can enjoy, as mine sure did.

I give this a strong 4.5 star rating. Great fun, funny, and with a great message. Enjoy!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Po the Panda is Awesome!!!
Kung Fu Panda is awesome!!! Po is cute and funny and the story has a great message. I suggest that everyone buy this great movie! And be on the look out for a sequel in 2010 or 2011!

Kung Fu Panda is my pick to win the Oscar this year. Come on and vote for Po! This is one of the best movies of 2008! Buy it now!

Java Entrepreneur

Sun Microsystems has announced plans to cut between 5,000 and 6,000 jobs — that's between 15 and 18 percent of its workforce.

"It blamed the cuts on the global economic downturn, but I think that like many other companies, Sun is using the downturn as an excuse for what were pre-existing problems, foretold by its stock price, which seems to be in an unending swoon," suggests GigaOM's Om Malik.

"How much has Sun spent to develop Solaris or Java?" asks InfoWorld's Neil McAllister. "How much must it continue to invest in maintaining other products, which, despite being open source, have no appreciable development community? To say these products are not loss leaders suggests something akin to Hollywood accounting."

The answer? "Spin off Java," McAllister added in a later post. "Just get rid of it — farm it out to an industry consortium and let the companies that depend upon it manage it..."
