Unexpected
This movie is unexpected, offering complex characters struggling with basic human emotions. The characters long for acceptance while desperately seeking their autonomy. The movie takes you places you don't expect, provokes feelings you don't expect, and leads you a place of resolution. This is a great film to watch and have a discussion follow. It is the kind of movie that you can watch several times and glean new perspectives and insights. You may find yourself reflecting on your own journey....It isn't until the end when you learn the meaning of the title.

Very good...
The best things about this movie is that the leads NEVER get together.
Moving and powerful.

At least the young kids are watchable.
That's who I'm giving the two stars to--the young actor and actress playing the children of Halle Berry and David Duchovny.
The rest of the film is deficient in many ways:
1. Berry plays a mean, crazy beeyotch of a widow who wasn't all that nice to her ex-husband and is of two minds when it comes to dealing with his best friend, the heroin addict played by Benicio Del Toro. Berry is always "on"; everything is life and death; she does not know how to play a character with subtlety or nuance. Also, she calls her husband abusive for no good reason, then tells his friend she's angry with him for helping their son get his head under water in the pool--which is what her husband had tried to do, and for that she called him abusive! It makes no sense.
2. Multiple close-ups of actors' eyes are neither necessary nor impressive.
3. Duchovny is wasted in his tiny role as the murdered husband.
4. Too many characters repeat the same lines several times. Dumb script/dialogue.
5. Nothing much comes of the potential romance or other connection between del Toro and Berry.
Rent something else.

Perfect Picture Quility
This HD-DVD exhibits A Perfect Picture Quility in MPEG4-AVC.As A viewer you almost feel like part of this film! This human study is so compelling and intensly frightful at the same time.Brilliant acting,Halle and Benico are amazing. The camera close-up's pull you in to there very soul's,and work like the silence of thunder on my own soul. The sound is unspectacular but precise, there are a lot of details that create a very realistic ambience ,This HD-DVD is a must have.
