Editorial Review:

DescriptionA comedy of discriminating taste and dirty little secrets. When a movie star and Hollywood diva Miranda Frayle break up, a playboy prince with a stiff upper lip sweeps her off her feet and boldly takes her home to meet his high-class, society-minded mother, who is none-too-pleased at the thought of having a 'starlet' in the family. But when the former boyfriend hears about the wedding, he jumps back in the spotlight--and with the help of Miranda's meddling mother-in-law to be, he may just win her back.

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Colin steals the show!
I purchased this movie based on reviews I had previously read and of course to watch Colin Firth, the brilliant actor (haha). I think it's pretty much a mindless watch if you're looking just to veg out and have some fun. All the reviews are correct Colin Firth does not play Julie Andrews son but her outwardly gay hilarious nephew. William Baldwin and Jeanne Tripplehorn might as well have not been in this movie I was bored with them. Julie Andrews, Colin Firth, Sophie Thompson and I think Stephen Fry (whoever played the head butler) made this movie hilarious. I feel they deserved five stars for their parts. It's a fun watch!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Very Enjoyable
Even though it's predictable, it's very enjoyable to watch. Julie Andrews and Colin Firth are wonderful. A good rainy day movie.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Absolutely enjoyable
For when you need a relaxing few moments of a good, British comedy. The interaction between Julie Andrews and Colin Firth is wonderful and sets the tone of the movie. The plot, although a bit predictable at times, is full and entertaining throughout. The time quickly passes as you watch this delightful comedy.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - An enjoyable little souflee
I purchased this mostly because of Julie Andrews and Colin Firth. While the film is no classic, it is surely enjoyable. The big comic surprise here is Sophie Thompson (Emma's sister). She is outrageously funny throughout the film, but especially when she's tipsy (during the main party scenes.) A fun 90 minutes. And by the way- did I mention it features the always divine Dame Julie?!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - If you like "Philadelphia Story," you'll like this too
I got this on a lark (basically because of the price, and I needed something to bring my order to $25 for free shipping, plus anything starring Julie Andrews HAS to be worth while, right?). Good choice! This has turned out to be one of my favorites! Every time I watch it I appreciate more and more how smart and well executed this little farce is. Polished script, great casting of the Brits (the maid Moxie is the REAL star--she positively makes the film), and drop-dead gorgeous sets. Certainly nothing much happens in the end--it's all about what happens in the middle. If you require "action" (read chases, explosions, blood) or "evil threatens good" or earth-changing conclusions, this film is not for you. But if you like smart comedy with hilarious dialog and some truly memorable inspired acting, you'll LOVE this whimsey film. A GREAT new serendipitous addition to my DVD library!!

CLLCT - The Collective Family An online community of indipendent musicians who have made their music free to download. No, it's not myspace.
(disclaimer: I have a profile there too, but nothing that I haven’t also posted on mefi.music. Apart from that I have nothing else to do with running or maintaining the site.)

Originally the 001collective, cllct is a community (or a collective if you will) of musicians dedicated to giving away their music for free on the internet. I randomly found the original 001 site while looking for online communities to post my own home recordings to. Not long after I signed up, the site changed to its current format under the new name cllct.

There is some phenomenal music to be found there, from the cuteness overload of Shelby Sifers, to the mature stylings of Generous Alzir, and even the off-kilter experiments of the Secret Owl Society (who is also the man behind the entire site).

Some other favourites of mine include:
21 love songs – a tribute to Magnetic Fields
Fire in the Mountains – James Eric
Pinecones – The Uggamuggas
Macondo – Fox Paws

I hope you enjoy the music!
