Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - BETTER AND BETTER!
Smallville just keeps getting better and better. Other reviewers have stated that the show has been spiralling down since the fifth season, but personally, SMALLVILLE'S 7th season is even better than the previous 6. There have been cast changes that I have found a bit saddening, like the death of Lionel and the absence of Martha Kent, however in retrospect I believe that these developments were made to add more substance to the plot and the main arc of the storyline. In every great epic, there has to be a profound dialectic between the forces of good and evil, and , evil does not necessarily have to be black [as suggested by other conventional fairytales etc...]. Lex Luthor is a very unique "lex" in the history of superman mythology. It is hard to totally hate Lex, even while one knows that he is Clark's ultimate antithesis [and I don't mean nemesis]. Michael Rosenbaum has created a Lex that is very complicated - he is the nemesis with shades of grey. Lex himself is fighting his own goodness and this is what makes the plot so great in this wonderful tv show. I was pleased to see that TPTB made it easy for the transition of Clark romantic destiny to Lois lane. Lana's character had to evolve in the manner it did [can't say more ... spoiler] so that the viewers will actually see her as an obstacle to Clark ultimate purpose. Suffice it to say, there have been sad moments in this season but I can't wait for the eight season! and the ninth, tenth.... twentieth! [hopefully]. If the Simpsons can continue beyond 10 seasons on FOX then I am hoping that Smallville will follow this trend. I hope that TPTB will heed the call of fans. After the ending of BUFFY, ANGEL and CHARMED, I hope that my other fave. tv show will be aired for as long as possible!

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Take negative reviews and add salt, Season 7 is one of the best
One of the biggest complaints in these reviews on Amazon.com is that Smallville never goes anywhere with the storyline. However, if someone would watch Season 1 and then jump to Season 7, the differences are huge, and headed in the right direction. One of the tags I've heard for the series is something like "Becoming evil isn't as light switch, it's a journey." or something like that. The same goes for becoming a hero to the world. Anyone expecting to see Clark (permanantly able to) fly and in his trademark blue tights is basically asking for the SERIES FINALE.

The truth is, in this season MANY events happened which signal the beginning of the Superman era... MAJOR SPOILERS ALERT: Supergirl is introduced; Lex goes over the edge into pure evil; Black Canary, Green Arrow's future gf, is introduced; Lionel's days are numbered; Lana is shown the door... and if you're looking for lose ends in general to be tied up, Season 7 makes a point to tackle as many as possible. It has been my favorite season since Season 3. I admit the season starts slow, but it took off quickly and never let up.

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - This season is the most dissapointing for me
For the past two months, I was watching Smallville via DVD, actually, 30 minutes ago I finished watching season 6th finale. I got to admit that 5 and 6 seasons were my favourite. I watch Smallville on WBLA channel (latin Warner Channel, not The CW, and they are repeating the season again), broadcasted on Tuesdays at 10:00 PM (Santiago of Chile timezone), the episode broadcasted last time (July 15th) was "Lara" (Lara kidnapped and being injected with some kind of "truth serum"). OK, I finally did catch up with 7 years of Smallville.

As I was watching the season 7, I was watching 1-6 via DVD, i already told you that, but as I was approaching to 6th finale, my disappointment was growing because I was getting the picture of what I was facing, season 7th is not that good as the rest. I noticed how Martha Kent was not appearing on season 7th and I think it is an important character, because it makes the Kent Farm less lonely, I saw how she was "literally" written out from the show in "Phantom" with the excuse that she will move to Washington DC.

I am not sure if I will buy this season, maybe to collect the whole set, why not I already own the first six season, but the whole thing is boring to watch.

About the actors, definitely Alison Mack is the best, not that I am fan of her, but I got to admit that she has skills to be an actress.

Tom Welling is not that good, there are tons of scene where I think it was best that he show some emotions, like crying, best scene where he did this was "Vengeance" on season 5th, where he "accepted" Jonathan Kent's death.

Kristen Kreuk is also a good actress, not as good as Alison, but not worse than Erica Durance (and with this line I kill both).

Michael Rosenbaum is another one damn good actor, I like the idea of how funny he is in real life and play the character we all hate on the show.

Annette O'toole, is a little bit hard for me to describe, all I can say she makes a good role playing as Clark's mom, but I can't stand the idea of how close she got to Lionel after her husband dead.

Smallville is my favourite show, and no other show have gained a place of my heart than this one, I sort of like the idea of how "superheroes" try to fit on the society, I wish they come up with something like the Justice League at the end of Smallville.

Finally, I have to admit that I have not finished watching season 7 and here I am writing a review of it, but take this review as a super express resume of how I see Smallville as a whole.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Wasn't the best, kinda poor for Smallville.
Ok it wasn't terrible. But the writers strike did have a hand in making it kinda crummy. To be honest i think it would have been better with the cliffhanger and the 2 hour finale. Which would have been around episode 15. Kara being introduced i think was a good idea. But the amnesia was a major mistake!
Lex's obsession with another 'Kent' was a bit ridiculous. It was good that Lana and Clark got together in this season, and it could have worked so well, if they hadn't have given Lana the evil side. Basically the writers turned Lana into something new and horrible. For 2 writers who loved Clana, they really destroyed it.
It was good having Pete back for an episode, but to be honest he should have been back for more than one, and seeing Martha a gain would have been good.
There is an episode that involves a parrallel universe and it was such an opportunity for the writers to bring back Martha and Jonathan and lots of old characters, but they wasted this opportunity by just bringing back the female sherif who died in season 5.
The finale was pretty bad, and the graphics of it had decreased badly, when the fortress fell it was very bad CGI. It looked like bits of lego falling to the ground.
I think Smallville is going down hill but i'm not going to drop it incase it gets better.
Don't get me wrong its still a thrill to watch, but there's just bits in the show that are so bad, it makes you want to cringe.
Hope this helps :)

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Smallville season 7 deserves 10/5!!!
This was one of the best seasons ever! Great action and great stories in each episode! You wont be able to stop watching it after you buy this collection. I highly recommend it for every smallville fan and new fans as well. Dont believe the ones that gave this 1 star. why? because they either hate superman or they just want to get attention. This is a MUST HAVE for all!

Eclipse3.1M3 comes out later today..

A contractor working for the Home Office loses a computer memory stick containing details of tens of thousands of criminals.

1962: NS Savannah, the world's first nuclear-powered cargo-passenger ship, completes its maiden voyage.

In a world terrified by the prospect of nuclear war, the Savannah was meant to demonstrate the peaceful use and positive potential of nuclear power. President Eisenhower conceived the idea as part of his "Atoms for Peace" program in 1955, a time when the United States and Soviet Union were routinely testing increasingly powerful nuclear weapons.

Four nuclear-powered merchant ships were eventually built.

The Savannah, named for the first steamship to cross the Atlantic Ocean in 1819, was in every sense of the word a showcase. The ship was given a sleek, streamlined design that wasn't really compatible with stowing large amounts of cargo, a fact that would eventually shorten its career.

Passenger accommodation was comparable to many conventional liners of the day. There were 30 air-conditioned staterooms, a dining room for 100 people, a swimming pool, a library and a lounge that could be converted into a cinema.

But the heart of the Savannah was its nuclear propulsion system, which at $28 million ($203 million in today's money) cost more than the ship itself, a mere $18.5 million ($134 million today). The Babcock and Wilcox nuclear reactor drove Savannah's two steam-turbine engines cheaply and efficiently.

In the end, though, it wasn't economical enough to offset the tight forward cargo area and other deficiencies that made the ship too expensive to operate commercially. Its tapered bow not only limited the cargo capacity to 8,500 tons -- well below that of contemporary vessels -- but also made loading difficult, especially as ports became more automated.

The Savannah also required a crew of 124, one-third again as large as conventionally powered ships, and those crew members required additional training to work with the propulsion system.

The Maritime Administration, which owned Savannah, leased her in 1965 to American Export-Isbrandtsen Lines for cargo-passenger service. But the ship never turned a profit and was laid up in January 1972. The Savannah spent most of the 1970s tied up in Galveston, Texas, where it underwent regular inspections of its nuclear plant.

Since then, the ship, which has been designated a National Historic Landmark, has become a museum piece in search of a home. Following decommissioning, the nuclear fuel was removed; the process of cleaning out all remaining nuclear contamination continues in a Baltimore shipyard.

When that job is completed sometime in 2011, the Maritime Administration hopes to see Savannah converted into a floating museum. So far, there have been no takers.
