Action-Filled Cartoon That Fills In Some of the Gaps.
CLONE WARS VOL. II begins immediately where CLONE WARS VOL. I ends: a group of Jedi are trapped, surrounded by Federation troops, and under attack by General Grievous. From there CLONE WARS VOL. II continues to fill in gap of Star Wars canon leading up to the beginning of STAR WARS: REVENGE OF THE SITH. Anakin's initiation as a full fledged Jedi Knight, the kidnapping of Chancellor Palpatine from Coruscant, and how Grievous's troubled breathing began are all revealed.
My only complaint about this volume is the length. I realize that the animators were working from a time-line and had to accomplish certain key plot points in order to have the series finished before the original theatrical release of REVENGE OF THE SITH. From what I hear, George Lucas isn't a very understanding boss and he wouldn't have been happy. Still, VOL. II covers a lot of ground and important Star Wars backstory, yet it's less than half the length of VOL. I. It would have been nice to see a little more action and character development. After all, these segments were originally only about 3-5 minutes in length anyway.
STAR WARS: CLONE WARS II is a must see for those who are Star Wars fans and who have seen VOL. I. If you haven't seen VOL. I, you're probably better off skipping VOL. II until you have. If you're not a Star Wars fan, you probably won't get much out of CLONE WARS: VOL. II unless you are interested in different forms of animation.
The DVD includes a limited behind-the-scenes featurette entitled "Connecting the Dots." There's also a short animated Lego film called "Revenge of the Brick", a trailer for REVENGE OF THE SITH, trailers for the video games BATTLEFRONT II and EMPIRE AT WAR, and still galleries.

Better than the real thing
This series was more satisfying than Episodes I, II or III. The movies expected you to love the characters rather than fleshing out the characters so that the audience actually grows to love the character. Jar Jar, Anakin, Amidala... all characters that were awkward and difficult to accept when left only with what George Lucas gave us.
Come watch the story George Lucas should have written. All the fun of swarming battle droids, a darkly menacing General Grievous and Jedi other than Anakin and Obi-Wan. Brilliant.
